Meet Petersburg tack shop owner Sandra Del Rossi

Born: Torrington, Conn.

Current residence:  Spring Grove.

Family:  Husband Gary Del Rossi; daughters Crystal and Ashley; sons Patrick and Thomas.

Pets: Three black Labs (Gunner, Katana, Dutchess); cat (Opal); Greek tortoise (Sleepy Turtle).

Horses: 30-plus-year-old Thoroughbred (Gara);  6-year-old Mustang/Appy (Destiny); 3-year-old spotted saddle (Dakota); and my stallion Friesian Zeus!

Occupation: I was a dental assistant right out of high school and through the years worked up to office manager.

What is your “claim to fame”? I guess that would be going through the SBA (Small Business Administration) process to build my business plan etc. . . ., applied for funding (got it!) and opened my store "One Rein Stop!" Also my "Death by Chocolate" dessert!

Hobbies: Training and riding our horses with my husband.

Philosophy on life: To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone and a funny bone!

Best horse advice ever received:  Work with the horse's nature instead of trying to control it.  You will then have a willing, happy, and safe horse.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?  My husband and I just got into horses about eight years ago! Now we eat, breathe, and sleep about horses!

Is there anything you would like to add?  My location is 2447-D County Drive (Route 460) Petersburg, VA 23803. Phone: (804) 732-1757. E-mail:  info@onereinstoptackshop.com and website: www.onereinstoptackshop.com.  Also if you are looking for something and cannot find it, let me know and I can look and order it for you! I am here to do my best to help my customers.

What five things inspired Sandra Del Rossi to open a tack shop?

1. Saw the need of having a local shop for the area.

2. Tired of traveling for horse supplies.

3. Wanted to bring convenience and availability to the community.

4. Have products on hand for my customers, if something special is needed I can order for them!

5. The drive to have my own business and to be able to help other horse owners is an added bonus!
